************************************* * * * PARSTM Driver - Version 1.2 * * * * Parallel NT Driver for * * STMicroelectronics Development * * Tool Boards * * * * RELEASE NOTES * * * ************************************* INTRODUCTION ------------ This PARSTM Driver enables the communication between ST6, ST7 or ST9 software tools running on Windows NT, such as debuggers, epromers, and target boards such as emulators, starter kits or epromer boards whenever the target board is connected to the PC through the parallel port. The targets currently supported are: - ST6, ST7, ST9 Emulator - ST6 Starter Kit - ST7 Development Kit Refer to the tool's specific release notes or documentation for more information about the compatibility of the tool with Windows NT platform. IMPROVEMENTS ------------ Version 1.2: Improve communication speed for ST7 Development Kit Version 1.1: All parallel modes supported : Centronics, EPP, ECP, bi-directionnal Version 1.02: This version now support parallel port modes : Centronics, ECP and EPP. Version 1.01: This new driver replace the old driver called GenPort. It is fully backward compatible with every software that were using GenPort driver. This driver has exactly the same features than the previous. It has been completely re-design in order to fix a major limitation of GenPort which was the incompatibility between the driver and the other standard drivers managing the parallel port (ie ParPort driver) and other drivers that were relying on these. INSTALLATION / UNINSTALLATION ----------------------------- To install this driver, follow these steps : - Open a NT session with administrative privileges - Quit all applications using the parstm driver (i.e. ST debuggers) - Start the "setup.exe" program included in this media - click on install or uninstall button The installation procedure automatically : - stops the old GenPort driver if it was started. - start the new driver so it is immediately operational. - You need not to reboot your PC. If you want to go back to the old GenPort driver, follow these steps : - Uninstall PARSTM driver using the procedure explained above. - Open "Control Panel/Devices" window (start menu). - Stop ParPort driver - Start GenPort driver - Optionally change GenPort startup mode to "automatic" and ParPort startup mode to "manual" KNOWN BUGS ---------- none
